Touch Program

Touch provides a day of respite spa services for recently bereaved caregivers who don’t often receive the same amount of comfort they gave to their loved ones. The physical and emotional labor of caring for a terminally ill loved one can take a toll on one’s overall well-being. TOUCH aims to acknowledge caregivers for all their sacrifice and selflessness through the gift of spa services.

Cheri Buttrey-Jenkins, the founder of Touch, created the program after caring for her husband Kenney Buttrey throughout his battle with lung cancer. After Kenney passed away in 2004, Cheri’s church organized a spa day in her honor where she received treatments such as facial, massage, and other touch-centered services. Cheri experienced firsthand the power of healing touch and sought out to facilitate the same healing for caregivers like her.

The Tennessee Caregiver Coalition is pleased to continue Cheri’s work by offering the Touch program to family caregivers throughout Middle Tennessee.
